2010 Audies ® nominee, in Short Stories/Collections category.

The Audio Publishers Association (APA) has announced nominations for its 2010 Audies competition, the only awards program in the United States devoted entirely to honoring spoken word entertainment.

Winners will be announced at the Audies Gala on May 25, 2010, at The Museum of the City of New York in New York City.

In the1930s and '40s, Black Mask was the single most important magazine for the modern mystery field. In its pages writers such as Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, and Earl Stanley Gardner reshaped the established view of mystery fiction, creating the "hard-boiled" private eye.

Now comes this series in which the toughest of tough detectives are resurrected from its pages in sonic dramatization from the award-winning Hollywood Theater of the Ear.

Stories included in this volume are “Lost and Found” by Hugh B. Cave, “Pigeon Blood” by Paul Cain, “Rough Justice” by Frederick Nebel, “Black” by Paul Cain, “The Missing Mr. Lee” by Hugh B. Cave, and “Trouble Chaser” by Paul Cain.

5 stars Audio Noir at its finest!
Once again the immensely talented Yuri Rasovsky and "The Hollywood Theater Of The Ear" delivers extremely thrilling audio dramatizations based upon the early detective stories from the magazine "Black Mask". Some are moody and intense, while others are comical as others are dark and violent, but all are the best elements of film noir delivered in audio noir! You can hear the shadows and feel the heat of each story. The direction is excellent and the acting is fantastic. The dramatizations themselves are first rate and done by Tanya Perez & Griffith Chase. This is Volume 1 No. 1 and is brilliantly follwed up by "The Maltese Falcon" which is Volume 1 No. 2. I highly recommend both! This is why Audio/Radio Drama is so much more entertaining than TV!
